The UFC returned to UFC APEX with another fight night which featured two top flyweights in No.3  ranked contender Jéssica Andrade against No. 10 Erin Blanchfield. The co-main event for the night was an exciting heavyweight matchup between up-and-comers Jordan Wright and Zac Pauga.

FInd below results of each bout for the night and a quick post-fight summary and analysis.

Heavyweight- Jamal Pogues defeats Josh Parisian by UD (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

It was Jamal Pogues’ promotional debut, besting Josh Parisian via unanimous decision in quite dominant fashion. The two-time Dana White’s Contender Series winner was quicker and used some timely takedowns to impress, outworking Parisian in the three rounds and taking very few hits. We can expect Pogues to be featured in many more UFC fights to come.

Light Heavyweight- Marcin Prachnio defeats William Knight by UD (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

In one of the stranger fights of recent times, Prachnio used his kicks to keep Knight at bay, eventually winning via UD. The tactical battle seemed to catch Knight off-guard as he couldn’t get inside Prachnio’s guard, suffering his third loss in a row.

Lightweight- Alexander Hernandez defeats Jim Miller by UD (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

The main card opener was an entertaining one, as Alexander Hernandez got one back in the win column with a gutsy performance against veteran Jim Miller. Hernandez filled in for Gabriel Benitez with limited time to prepare but seemed in his element at lightweight. Although there were a number of dicey moments, Hernandez was able to keep his composure and see out the three rounds to edge Miller. He is now 14-6 in his MMA career, while Jim Miller got his three fight win streak snapped.

Light Heavyweight- Zac Pauga def. Jordan Wright by UD (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

In the Co-Main Event, Zac Puaga was able to bully his way to victory over Jordan Wright, wearing him out over three rounds to win via UD. Puaga was in control throughout the fight, pinning him up against the fence and landing several lusty blows which opened him up.

After losing to Mohammad Usman at heavyweight, Pauga moves to 6-1 overall and continues to be undefeated in the 205-pound weight class.

Women’s Flyweight- Erin Blanchfield defeats Jéssica Andrade by Submission (RNC) at 1:37 of Round 2

The main event didn’t go the distance, as Erin Blanchfield lived up to the hype, submitting Jéssica Andrade via rear-naked-choke at 1:37 in Round 2. She is now 5-0 in the UFC and is expected to get a title shot with the winner of the UFC 285 title fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso.
