After one of the more entertaining NFL seasons of recent times, Super Bowl LVII is finally upon us, as the Philadelphia Eagles get set to play the Kansas City Chiefs in Phoenix, Arizona.
While the regular season was incredibly unpredictable this year, the two top seeds of the NFC and AFC ended up picking up the two Super Bowl sports this season. This isn’t too much of a surprise considering the rosters and coaching both teams possess.
The Kansas City Chiefs finished with a 14-3 record despite having a shaky start. They were then able to top the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round 27-20 and eke home a victory against the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 to punch their Super Bowl ticket.
The Philadelphia Eagles on the other hand seemingly breezed through the regular season, also finishing with a 14-3 record, with their only real losses coming when quarterback Jalen Hurts was injured. The team has been nothing short of brilliant in the playoffs, absolutely crushing the Giants 38-7 and then the 49ers 31-7.
Both teams boast explosive offenses which can put points on the board in a hurry. This will be Patrick Mahomes second Super Bowl appearance giving him the experience factor over his counterpart, Jalen Hurts. It seems very likely that whichever offense can turnover the ball the least will come out on top in this contest.
It should be noted that Mahomes isn’t 100% after suffering an ankle sprain earlier this season but he had rehabbed enough over the past two weeks to practice with no restrictions. Philadelphia QB Jalen Hurts also underwent rehab on his shoulder towards the end of the regular season but it was considered good to go for the big game.
The points spread for the game is listed as -1.5 Philadelphia Eagles to +1.5 Kansas City Chiefs, making the Eagles a slight favorite to win. The over/under for the total amount of points scored by both teams is 50.5. (Odds listed according to bet365 Ontario)
We predict that the Chiefs will beat the Eagles in a close game, 27-24. If Kansas City can protect their QB and keep their turnovers to a minimum, they should have the experience and skill to come out on top.
