The Raptors were in Portland on Saturday night, taking on the Trail Blazers in their 51st game of the season. The Raps had one of their better games this year, beating the Blazers 123-105 in dominant fashion. Toronto improved their NBA regular season record to 23-28 and continue to sit in the 12th seed in the Eastern conference, 2.5 games out of a playoff spot.

This was the Raptors third game in a seven game West Coast road trip, of which they are currently 2-1. They will have a tough road ahead of them in the upcoming week, as they go head-to-head with the Suns, Jazz, Rockets and Grizzlies.

Raptor’s star Pascal Siakam had a solid game with 24 points, 4 assists and three rebounds but it was Precious Achiuwa who stole the show, scoring 27 on 11-16 from the floor. All of the starters ended up in double figures as Gary Trent Jr and Scottie Barnes added 19 and 18 points respectively.

Once again the Raptors bench looked rather bleak, scoring on 24 of the 123 points, despite added garbage time minutes. This has been an ongoing point of concern for the team as they look to earn a playoff spot.

The Raptors got off to a hot start in the game, as they went up 30-7 with three minutes to go in the opening frame, mostly off the back of Gary Trent Jr, who had 13. Toronto took their foot of the pedal in the second and third quarters, getting outscored 69-51. It wasn’t until the fourth that the Raps truly pulled away, pouring in 35 in the final quarter to the Blazers 22.

OG Anonuby was out with a left sprain wrist and is not expected to play in the next couple games for the Raptors.

Up Next for Toronto Raptors

Next on the docket for the Raptors on their road trip is the Phoenix Suns. The Suns recently got their starting point guard Chris Paul back and will be looking to cement a place in the playoffs. They are currently in the 9th spot in the West, with a record of 26-25.
