The free agency rush started last week and many NFL teams have already begun to execute their offseason roster changes. There are a number of top players in the league up for grabs including the likes of franchise quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson. The following is a list of the top 5 players who are available for free agency signings in 2023.
#1 Lamar Jackson
That’s right, Lamar Jackson is technically on the market. While does have the non-exclusive franchise tag, meaning the Ravens will have the ability to match any offer that comes his way, Jackson could find a new home this season. It’s hard to imagine they won’t, considering the Ravens have been 45-16 in Jackson’s 61 starts since he entered the league in 2018.
Jackson has already put up some lofty numbers, becoming one of six players in NFL history to reach 100-plus passing touchdowns and 4,000-plus rushing yards in a career. Expect some big offers to be put forward by teams looking for an All-Star quarterback but the Ravens to match whatever is put forward.
#2 Odell Beckham Jr.
OBJ tore his ACL over a year ago in Super Bowl LVII but is expected to have fully recovered for the 2023 season. The 30-year-old wide receiver still has amazing athletic ability and could be an integral part of a contender looking for a deep threat.
The Cowboys have been publicly pursuing Beckham, while rumors have been swirling that Aaron Rogers and the Jets are ready to make a move as well.
#3 Rock Ya-Sin
One of the top man-cover cornerbacks in the league, Rock Ya-Sin is sure to have a number of teams trying to acquire his talents this offseason. The former Las Vegas Raider allowed just 51.7% of passes thrown in his direction to be caught and had no touchdowns allowed. All teams in dire need of a lockdown corner will surely be giving Ya-Sin a look at the very least.
#4 Jadeveon Clowney
Jadeveon Clowney had a disappointing 2022 campaign with the Cleveland Browns, with just 29 pressures and two sacks in 12 games. He clearly has the potential to create a bigger impact, with a good 2021 season which saw him tally 53 pressures, 9 sacks and 19 quarterback hits. If Clowney can find himself on the right defensive line he might be able to even exceed expectations.
#5 Taylor Rapp
The safety position doesn’t have too many great options this offseason which should increase the value of Taylor Rapp’s stock. As an extremely physical safety who can line up in a lot of different spots, Rapp should have a bunch of teams vying for his attention. His 2022 season was a good one, tallying 92 tackles, with a fumble recovery and two interceptions.
