The 2023 MLB season is fast approaching, with several key dates that all Blue Jays fans should have circled on their calendar. From the season opener to key rivalry matchups, here is a list of all the important dates you should keep and eye out for this year.

Season Openers

The Jays will be starting their season on the road against the St Louis Cardinals on March 30th. The first pitch is expected to come out around 4:10 pm EST. Toronto starts the regular season playing nine road games on the trott, in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Los Angeles.

The team’s home opener is on Tuesday April 11th, when they return to the Rogers Centre to take on the Detroit Tigers.

Rivalry Matchups

Right after the Jays’ first home series against the Tigers, the Tampa Bay Rays will be coming down to Toronto for the first divisional series of the season. The series will take place between April 14th and 16th.

A week later, Toronto travels to the Bronx to play against the New York Yankees in what is anticipated to be a heavily contested matchup. The Yankees were the only team ahead of the Blue Jays in the American League last season. As the team attempts to improve on their performance from last year, the big test will likely come here.

Teoscar Hernández will return to the Rogers Centre after  being traded to the Seattle Mariners between April 28-30. Following that homestand, Toronto will be taking on the Red Sox for the first time, via a three-game series at Fenway Park from May 1-3.

All-Star Game & Other Key Dates

The All-Star break is from July 10-13 this year, starting with the home run derby on July 10th. The MLB draft will happen between July 7-11 and the All-Star game on the 11th at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

The trade deadline is expected to revert to July 31st, after the lockout pushed it to August 2nd last season. The four games in Baltimore from July 31st-August 3rd should have extra interest if the team makes any big moves at the time.

The 2023 MLB regular season will end at the Rogers Centre with three more games against the Yankees from September 26th-28th. The team will then have one last series on the road to be played against the Rays between September 29th and October 1st.
