2023 NFL Free Agents Signings & Trade Rumors- March

NFL free agency is slowly beginning to pick up the pace, as a number of top teams look to improve upon their rosters from last season. Technically, the free agency started on Wednesday the 15th of March at 4 pm EST but was effectively opened with the ‘legal tampering’ period a couple days before. Let’s take a look through some of the headline pickups thus far and potential additions in the coming weeks.

49ers Sign DT Javon Hargrave

This four-year $84M contract heavily bolsters the 49ers’ defensive line and also steals away a big asset from their rivals the Philadelphia Eagles. The 30-year-old Hargrave is a former Pro Bowler (2021) and also had his statical best season in 2022, racking up 60 total tackles and a career-high 11 sacks.

The contract guarantees $40M and is definitely on the expensive side for the team but could be well worth it as Hargrave joins the likes of Nick Bosa, making a deadly one-two punch on the D-line.

Raiders Sign QB Jimmy Garappolo

In this three-year $67.5M signing, the Raiders picked up a solid quarterback to run their offense in Jimmy Garoppolo. While his numbers don’t jump off the page, Garoppolo has always been able to run effective offenses, with his key strength being the ability to not turn the ball over.

This could be a very good signing for the Raiders but injury concerns and durability has been an issue for the 31-year-old. He has missed significant time in two of the past three seasons, including six games this past season.

Chiefs Sign OT Jawaan Taylor

The Kansas City Chiefs look to build upon their successful Super Bowl winning campaign in 2022 by shaking up their offensive line. The four-year $80M signing of OT Jawaan Taylor should go a long way in protecting Patrick Mahomes next year, as the 25-year-old allowed only five sacks in just under 1,100 snaps last year with the Jags.

Taylor is still quite young and could be a risky pickup for the Chiefs given the chemistry between the offensive line. He does however possess some serious talent and athletic ability, so the gamble could pay off big.

With all the new big signings the 2023 NFL season looks like it is going to be an exciting one. If you’re thinking of betting on games from Ontario then check out our list of the best NFL betting sites in the province for all the best odds and betting features.
