The 2023 NFL Draft is just a month away, set to take place from April 27-29 in Kansas City, Missouri. This year it looks like the top of the draft will consist mainly of quarterback prospects, with the Carolina Panthers already trading up in position to land a franchise QB.
While quarterbacks will likely dominate the first few picks, the rest of this year’s draft is filled with talent in the cornerback, edge rusher and tight end positions. There will also be an abundance of quality defensive lineman up for grabs, unlike drafts of in the past few years.
With such a wealth of young talent ready to make their mark in the league, who is expected to take the top spots of the draft this year? Let’s take a look.
C.J. Stroud (Quarterback)
After an extremely impressive workout at the combine, C.J. Stroud is expected to be a top three this draft and could even go first overall. If the Carolina Panthers end up going his way, they will get an accurate thrower who can stick in the pocket but can also flash out with his mobility to make defenses pay for not accounting for him in man coverage.
The Ohio State Buckeye holds many records for his college team, including most passing yards in a single game with 573 as well as being the first player to throw for six touchdowns three times.
Bryce Young (Quarterback)
The 2021 Heisman winner, Bryce Young is another highly sought after quarterback who will in all likelihood be picked up within the first three draft picks. The main advantage of taking Young over other top QBs in the draft is his high football IQ and ability to get the ball out in a rush.
Despite being only 5-foot-10, Young has been able to dominate defenses with his precision and calmness under duress. Young holds the record for most passing yards in a single game by an Alabama quarterback (559) and won the Sugar Bowl MVP last year to go with being picked Second team All-SEC.
Anthony Richardson (Quarterback)
Anthony Richardson epitomizes sheer athleticism after putting on one the most electrifying combine days in recent history. His lack of consistency throwing the ball however makes him a more risky prospect than the two quarterbacks mentioned above. A team who is looking to hit an absolute home run however, may end up taking a chance on Richardson as a top two pick.
Next season will be very interesting with these three quarterbacks likely to make their debut. If you plan on betting on NFL games when the season returns be sure to go through our list of the best NFL betting sites in Ontario for top odds and betting features.
