With almost 12 weeks of the NFL regular season in the books and only 6 to go, the playoff picture is beginning to take shape across the league. While exact standings won’t be finalized until the end of the season, we can take a look at what teams would make the playoffs if the season ended today.

Here’s a breakdown of the NFL season’s latest seedings and contenders competing for those 7 playoff spots in each division:

AFC Playoff Picture

1Kansas City Chiefs9-2-0.8183-05-2
2Miami Dolphins8-3-0.7272-16-2
3Tennessee Titans7-4-0.6363-05-3
4Baltimore Ravens7-4-0.6362-04-3
5Buffalo Bills8-3-0.7270-25-2
6Cincinnati Bengals7-4-0.6361-34-3
7N.Y. Jets7-4-0.6362-25-4

The Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans are sitting pretty at the top of the AFC West and AFC South respectively, three games ahead of the competition. The Dolphins and Ravens on the other hand seem to be in for a dog fight with the Bills, Bengals and Jets, breathing down their necks.

Right now the Dolphins hold the tie-breaker over the Bills based on head-to-head win percentage. Similarly the Ravens hold the 4th seed due to their head-to-head record against the Bengals.

Who else is in the hunt?

The New England Patriots and LA Chargers both with a record of 6-5 are both still in the hunt for a playoff spot. Both teams seem unlikely to win their division but could still slide into a wild-card sport with a good end to the regular season.

5Dallas Cowboys8-3-0.7273-17-3
6New York Giants7-4-0.6360-23-4
7Washington Commanders7-5-0.5831-24-4

The NFC East has all four teams currently in the playoff race with the Eagles leading the way with a league’s best 9-1-0. Meanwhile the Bucs eke into the 4th spot with a below .500 record due to their weak NFC South division.

Who else is in the hunt?

The Atlanta Falcons still have a good shot at taking the AFC South division, standing only half a game behind Tampa Bay with a record of 5-7. The Seahawks dropped out of a wild-card spot by falling to the Raiders in Week 12 but are still well in contention to make the postseason.
